Optimium is led by Leonidas Pitsoulis, an AI engineer, optimization researcher and professor. It is built on a simple idea: now that software is cheap to build, the expertise behind it is what makes the difference.

For more than twelve years he has built production AI and optimization systems in industry. He was Head of AI & Data Science at Geekbot, Head of Data Science at Forky and Chief Data Scientist at Digital Ecosystems, and has consulted for companies including Dixons, AIXBT, VitalSource and Welcome Pickups.

He holds a PhD in Algorithms and Optimization from the University of Florida and is a full professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with previous appointments at Princeton University and the London School of Economics. His research covers combinatorial optimization, graph algorithms, integer programming and metaheuristics.

Researchers rarely ship production code, and engineers rarely have deep training in methods. That gap decides whether a project succeeds: framing the problem, choosing the method, knowing what an algorithm can and can’t do. Optimium brings both sides to every engagement.
